Building A Village In The Digital Age
In today's fast-paced, digitally-driven world, the true essence of community can sometimes feel lost. As Christine Devlin Eck emphasizes on The Sacred Window Podcast, it's more crucial than ever to prioritize in-person connections and cultivate a supportive "village," especially during transformative periods like postpartum. While technology offers undeniable conveniences, relying solely on virtual interactions can diminish the profound human connection our spirits truly crave. The conversation highlights how actively seeking out and nurturing real-life relationships can provide an unparalleled sense of belonging and support that screens simply can't replicate.
Guests Michale Chatham and Dr. Molly Peralta introduce their insightful "Mile Wild Framework," a powerful guide for building deep, meaningful connections. This framework centers on three foundational pillars: land, God (or spirit), and others. By consciously engaging with our physical environment, connecting with our spiritual selves, and fostering genuine relationships with those around us, we can lay the groundwork for a robust and resilient personal community. Michelle and Dr. Peralta share compelling personal stories of receiving crucial "village" support during their own childbirth experiences, underscoring just how vital these in-person networks are when navigating life's most significant milestones.
Their work extends into tangible action through Vessel Village, an inspiring initiative dedicated to empowering women to create and sustain local, in-person communities. Beyond fostering connection, Vessel Village offers a range of courses designed to equip women with knowledge and practices across various health and wellness topics. This commitment to self-awareness, active community engagement, and honoring the wisdom of elders provides a roadmap for individuals seeking to build their own supportive networks. By intentionally cultivating these local, in-person ties, we can all contribute to a more connected, resilient, and thriving world, moving beyond the digital surface to find genuine human connection.
